Our purpose is to help clarify the concepts of disciplinary society and power devices in the work of Michel Foucault, from elements of some chapters of Discipline and Punish. This text is the story of the birth of the prison, but also carried the story of the body and subjectivity. To achieve the objective it is considered that in the history of the body and subjectivity in the field of criminal, one can observe the emergence of a disciplinary society, and this new type of society is established in the West since the nineteenth century. The body and subjectivity are not the same here and there; in societies of sovereignty (XVII and XVIII centuries) there is a body subjected to torture and the individual-offenders, including both a disciplinary society and a disciplined body produces a certain type of subject-offender. Likewise, in the different types of companies are started producing power devices in fact the kind of body and subjectivity required. In a society of sovereignty, the execution is started as a device to produce body-punishment, in the meantime in the modern era are the prison (the Panopticon) and specialists such as power devices built-docile bodies, in a disciplinary society Space is the quintessential power device.
